Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Open University or BAOU is an open university in Ahmedabad of Gujarat. BAOU is a popular distance learning university popular for its affordable BA Programs which are popularly compared with IGNOU. BAOU got 3.12 GPA in its NAAC accreditation report with A+ grade. The University Got highest score in Teaching, Learning & Evalution. Student reviews are also synonymous with the NAAC accreditation and over 40% students are satisfied with the course curriculum but almost 70% criticized the university for lack of mail and call support for students. The university found its existence in the year 1994 under the Gujarat State Legislature Act. BAOU was established with a mission to make quality education accessible to the unreached by creating a learner-centric environment. The university is the seventh oldest open university in India within the distance education framework. Operating via a three-tier structure - Headquarters, Regional-Centres and Learner-Support-Centres, the university has a total of 7 regional centres and operates with 254 learner support centres across Gujarat. The specialisations of the degrees include arts, computer science, social work, cyber security, finance, marketing, management and many more.
