About BAOU
Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Open University or BAOU is an open university in Ahmedabad of Gujarat. The university found its existence in the year 1994 under the Gujarat State Legislature Act. BAOU was established with a mission to make quality education accessible to the unreached by creating a learner-centric environment. The university is the seventh oldest open university in India within the distance education framework. Operating via a three-tier structure - Headquarters, Regional-Centres and Learner-Support-Centres, the university has a total of 7 regional centres and operates with 254 learner support centres across Gujarat. The headquarters of BAOU is spread over 20 acres of land. BAOU Ahmedabad has achieved an A++ grade by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). Apart from this the university has also been recognised by the University Grants Commission, Distance Education Council and Distance Education Bureau. Apart from this the AICTE approval also adds to the credibility of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Open University. BAOU courses include a diverse array of certificate, undergraduate, postgraduate and diploma level courses. Admission to all the courses are offered based on the academic merit of the candidates.

Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Open University (BAOU) Highlights
BAOU Fee & Courses 2024
All the BAOU courses are offered via online mode and there are a total of 82 courses that are being offered at different academic levels of study. The specialisations of the degrees include arts, computer science, social work, cyber security, finance, marketing, management and many more. To broaden the academic offerings to the learners, the university has recently introduced 12 new courses such as MBA, MCA, MSc in Data Science, BSW, MSc in Cyber Security etc. This open university ensures accessibility of education to all the strata of society as the BAOU fees are quite affordable and range from Rs 600 to Rs 30,000. The fee for the UG courses range between Rs 1,200 to Rs 30,000. BAOU fee for PG courses may vary between Rs 2,700 to Rs 25,000. One can take admission to this university through the merit of the qualifying exam. The university also provides pre admission counselling that helps candidates to choose the right BAOU course for admission. BAOU Admission 2024
The university has a centralised admission cell that ensures transparency in the admission process. BAOU admission is offered based on academic merit. Candidates desirous to take admission at the university must know that they are granted admissions basis their performance in the merit of the qualifying examination. BAOU admission form is available on the website and candidates have to submit the form along with necessary documents. Here is the step by step procedure for admission at BAOU:
- Candidates must register at www.baou.edu.in admission 2024 and create an ID.
- Now candidates have to submit the BAOU application form.
- After filling the application form one has to pay the BAOU application fees through debit card, credit card or net banking.
- BAOU application status can be checked using the ID that has been created by the candidate.
- Admission is confirmed based on the merit of the qualifying exam.
- Following the confirmation of admission candidates have to pay the BAOU fees in the online mode.

The university offers a diverse array of academic programmes through its 5 schools of studies. The maximum programmes are offered through the School of Humanities and Social Science followed by the School of Computer Science. BAOU Exam Dates
The university holds the examination twice every year. Students have to submit the BAOU exam form on the official website. The university exam is conducted at more than 100 study and examination centres across Gujarat. Students have to submit the BAOU exam form on the official website. BAOU Results
BAOU results are released twice every year after the term end exams are successfully concluded. BAOU Assignment
All the students enrolled at the university are required to submit the assignment for their respective courses. BAOU assignment marks are added to the total marks of the term end examination that contributes to the overall evaluation of the students academic performance. The assignment consists of 30 marks and the steps to download BAOU assignment has been given here:
- Navigate to the BAOU assignment website - http://student.baou.edu.in/e-assignment/home.aspx.
- The BAOU assignment portal has all the names of the schools and students have to select the relevant school.
- Now, the course has to be selected from the available options.
- Further, click on the ‘view paper’ and select ‘admission form’ from the drop down.
- Now click on ‘view assignment’ for BAOU assignment PDF download.
BAOU Placements
The university emphasises on placement support and has a training and placement cell to bridge the gap between academic learning and professional employment. The cell has strategically collaborated with corporates for BAOU placement drive. BAOU Scholarships
The university strongly believes in access to education to all meritorious students irrespective of the financial status. Therefore in order to eradicate the financial hindrances from the educational path, students can avail BAOU scholarships.
